Coffee capsules: the infinity of aluminium as a recyclable
For bulk consumers in France such as organisations of more than 500 people, recycling Nespresso capsules is made possible by a collection scheme coordinated by the company's partners La Poste (national postal service) and the recycling facilitator Paprec.
With designated PMC blue bags made available to consumers, it is possible to recycle by putting the coffee pods with the coffee grounds inside the bag, which is then transported to the nearest recycling centre.

Collaborations between Nespresso are in place to repurpose capsules to make bikes, Swiss knives and pens. As aluminium is easily recyclable, it can be reused well.

In terms of net carbon reductions, aluminium is not as effective as coffee grounds however recycling it does maintain a reduction in carbon emissions at the consumer level.
